Painting "Confessions of a Bad Momma" medium: Fingerpaint on Canvas

"Confession of a Bad Momma"
medium: Fingerpaint on Canvas

So--here's the story. I bought three canvases for my kids to paint some pictures for my office. Well, today I kept walking by the supplies and my fingers were just itching to grab a brush and paint something.
Finally, I could no longer resist the urge. I took a canvas and painted. It felt gooooood! I haven't picked up a paint brush in years!
Now I have to go out and buy another canvas to replace the one I used.
And yes, I take their candy too. :0P

Plurals, posessives and pet peeves. Oh My!

Here's a great writing resource from Carnegie Mellon.

This site lists all kinds of useful info like:

tricky words

commonly misspelled or misused words

plurals and possessives

punctuation

and much more.

A great place to go when you have a question about
the "rules of writing"

Book Review: "A Wizard of Earthsea" by Ursula K. Le Guin

Wow! How have I not read this book before now?

A Wizard of Earthsea is about Ged; a young mage in training. In a moment of hate and pride, he unknowingly unleashes an evil entity into the world, which nearly kills him.
This evil entity pursues Ged, and this once arrogant young boy is forced to grow up too soon as a result of his careless actions.
Ged flees from the evil that pursues him, all the while trying to figure out how to rid himself, and the world of this evil; to right his wrong.

This book is strong in characterization and the Earthsea world was created with exceptional literary skill and prowess.

Loved it!

Artsy Schmartsy 4 year old

I'm proud of all the things my kids make, but the thought behind this painting, created by my 4 year old, impressed me
so I thought I'd blog it.
When I asked my daughter what this picture was she said
"It's fire and water. The yellow is fire, the blue is water putting out the fire and the pink is the fire going out."

My office is almost done!!!!!!!!!

I spent a good part of the day organizing my office space. It's not quite done yet, but it is now funcitonal.

I wanted to fill my office (which will also have to double as a guest room when needed) with the things that inspire my creativity and help me reconnect with childhood.

Some of my critique group buddies will recognize some decorations from our schmooze in 2007 hanging on my bulletin board which holds masterpieces made by my children.

The desk space-- where the magic happens . (my childhood furniture, dolls from my childhood more schmooze decorations and things made by the kids, reference materials etc.)

The tiffany lamp in the back is made by my dad, the bed is made up with all the colors that I LOVE! Bright colors make me happy. And then there's the book shelf! Books! Books! and more books! I need a picture or something over the bed. Any suggestions?
