Make-up is off, pony tail is up, candles lit, pillows plumped, kids in bed, tea is made. I'm ready to dive into a book that I picked up at the library today.
I'm rather excited because I love to read, but I've been in a reading rutt. For the last year my goal was to read at least 4 books a month. Many months I exceeded that goal. I've given up t.v. time so I can read and write.
The problem is, I'm a little burnt out now. I love to read, but for about 2 months I've picked books up at the library. Good books, but I just couldn't get into them. I'd read a couple of chapters, and then return them, unfinished, until I could find a book that would draw me in and capture me. I'm in a mood for that type of book. a "Capture" book
I love a book that can take me away to a different time, a different place. A book that can make me forget the here and now and take me on an unforgettable journey. A book that I get excited to read and don't want to put down. It's been a long time since I've been able to find a book like that. Well, a long time for me. like 2 months.
Dear friends, I am happy to say that I've finally found a book to break me out of my rutt. It's "The Seer of Shadows" by Avi. I'm sure I'll write a review when Im done.
As for now, I don't want to type anymore. I want to get back to my book!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and I was wondering, what are some books that have captured you? Books that you haven't wanted to put down? After all, I'll need some suggestions for when I finish this book (which may be very soon. Like tomorrow.) What are some of your "Capture" books?

Madapple, Adoration of Jenna Fox, Hunger Games - all these really grabbed me!
For me it was the "Left Behind" series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. I couldn't put them down until they were finished. Then when I did finish them, I started the whole series over again. Then the Prequels came out and those were just as good.

I just now finished Hunger Games and it captured me to the fullest. Read it as soon as you can get your hands on it.
I read Pride and Prejudice this summer and couldn't stop.
And I must admit, I ate Twilight up like candy.
PJ, beth, Lenore & colorado (AKA Steph), I just picked up the Adoration of Jenna Fox at the Library. I tried to get Hunger Games too, but they don't have any yet. They have 12 copies on order and I"m 12th on the waiting list! Now I can't wait for it to get in! I wonder how long it takes!!!??
Rena, I read Left Behind many many years ago. I should give them another go. It should be interesting to see how time has changed how I read them.
Jacqui, at first I thought I wasn't going to read twilight because I'm not into Vampire books, but I've heard so much about it, I think I'm going to HAVE to read it now. I should reserve it at the library. I have P&P on my shelf. I should read it again! :0)

Shift and Skin Deep are two I just finished, and absolutely loved. Dairy Queen and The Off Season are both fantastic. I'm currently reading Girl At Sea and loving it.
I love hearing about what everyone else is reading. Then I get more good stuff to read. :)
I LOVE that feeling - but like you, I don't get it too much. But when I do, I feel guilty because I'm not doing the "other stuff" I should be...such as writing, working, cleaning, writing, .... :^))
I just finished Breaking Dawn the fourth and final book in the Twilight Series. Yes, I read all four. Breaking Dawn was the best in the series. The author did a switcheroo with point of view in the middle, then back to the heroine for the last part, which was a little off putting, but still worked. I'm now finishing up Stargirl which I love and have just started Nightbirds on Nantucket.

Mockingbird, the biography of Harper Lee
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
Anything by Terry Pratchett -- I love the cleverness and his astute social commentary.
