Beach Reading

I'm leaving for the beach on Sunday, so I was hoping to find a book that I could read that would suck me in. I wasn't sure what to get.

I've been wanting to read The Forrest of Hands and Teeth, but my Library didn't have it yet. I had asked if they had it a couple of months ago and they didn't. So, when I saw this sitting out on the display shelf yesterday, I audibly ~gasped~ and did a head dive for the shelf, (the kind like tennis or volley ball players will do to make a good save) and snatched up the book before anyone else could. (not that there was anyone w/i 10 feet of me, but a girl can not be too careful you know.)

So, now I have a good beach read for my vacation. The only problem is that I'll be gone for a week and I'll probably finish this in one day (2 days tops.) Anyone have any page-turners to recommend for additional beach reading? My book list is on the side bar of this blog if you want to see what I've recently read.

Oh - if you haven't read Maureen Johnson's SUITE SCARLETT - it would be a totally awesome beach read!

DAWN OF THE PIGRATE is a good beach read. or the sequel, DAY AFTER THE DAWN OF THE PIGRATES.. or heck, just finish off the trilogy.. DUSK SETS ON THE DAY AFTER THE DAWN OF THE PIGRATES

Thanks Julia! I'll have to put those on my list!

Ian, I'm a HUGE Pigrate fan!!!! I'd love to read those, but . . . don't you have to finish writing them before I can read them?

Oh man that's funny, I grabbed this yesterday at the library, too. I do want to read Silver Phoenix, and A Curse Dark as Gold. I have them on hold.

I agree: Silver Phoenix is a total page-turner/perfect beach read.

I started to go through the list of books I've read this year to pick my favorites and I couldn't. I enjoyed so many of them!

But books I couldn't stop once I started include Silver Phoenix, Nothing by Ghosts by Beth Kephart, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford, Need by Carrie Jones and anything by Suzanne Collins.

Have fun at the beach!

I'm listening to the audio book of Drood by Dan Simmons. It will definitely hold your attention. It's an adult novel about Charles Dickens, a little horror here and there. Great stuff. Also, it's a large book which would keep you busy for a while. The bright sunlight of the beach is probably a safe place to read it:)

That was the funniest description I've ever read of a book devotee spotting a prize on the shelf!

Hope you're having a great beach trip. Wish I could recommend a good book, but usually I just wait to see what you've read and then I go and read that!

I had three books on hold at my library and they all came at once: The Spectacular Now, Hunger Games and Geography Club. Now if I could just get to the beach....
