I was recently walking in downtown Raleigh when I came across these stairs that lead to nowhere. I had to take a picture. I love the way a sight like this starts my creative story wheels a-turning. Let me count the possible ways to find a story behind this image . . .
Why was the entrance covered up? What are they hiding? Is it a porthole to another world? Maybe there's a secret code or trigger that opens up an unseen door. . . ..
Or maybe this image is a metaphor for something in your life. I've got to admit, right now I feel like those stairs leading to a brick wall represents my writing efforts. (not to mention other areas in my life.)
What about you? What thoughts or stories are brought to mind by this picture? I'm curious.

Me, being the fantasy-minded person that I am, immediately thought that it's the portal to another world, a world so dangerous that men blocked it for fear the unwary should find it. The illuminating streak of light looks as though the portal is starting to open, meaning danger is awakening...
What a cool shot! You found this in Raleigh? Wow. Don't you love it when you find something cool like this?
As for the "brick wall" you find yourself up against, I hope you break it down soon.
That is a fantastic picture! You can't help but wonder what the story is behind it.
That is such a cool photo! Even the light creates a mysterious effect.
Hmmm. There has to be a story there!
Great photo. It makes me wonder why the building's owner didn't remove the steps, since they went to all that trouble to brick in the door. (Guess I'm in a practical mood this morning!)
Yep, feeling a bit up against a brick wall myself. It's time to tear the wall down and allow the stairs to go somewhere!
Oooh, love the pic! What a cool place. It reminds me of my neighbors house from where I grew up--they had a second story door that opened to the front of their house, with nothing there... Always creeped me out!
Thanks Cat! I like the way you think! :0)
Thanks Laura!
Hi Kelly! I was kind of happy with the burst of light. It adds to the effect. :0)
HI MG! I was wondering the same thing. Maybe we'll find Al Capones stash behind that wall. ;0)
Bish, sorry to hear that you've got the same 'brick wall" problem that I do. I'm with you! Let's get out our sledge hammers and make our way through. :0)
Thanks Meradeth, that does sound creepy, but another good image to get a story started. :0)
Brick Wall here, too. I think there is definitely a hole in the wall, but sadly, I tend to build the steps up... but don't finish the project. I need to get on it!
Hi Donna! Here's hoping your brick wall will come down soon too.
Fantastic! I love questions like that. They lead to so many creative thoughts. Sometimes I think I get too busy that I don't take the time to really think and ponder.
Thanks Christina! :0)
I love that photo. Seeing those stairs to nowhere would definitely get my mind wandering in the direction of a story.
I hope you get past your own brick wall soon. We all hit them. And they can be very intimidating.
Thanks Cynthia!
Oh I love picture prompts. This is a great one.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :0)
So funny that they left a window - and the steps. It's an invitation to peek inside :)
LOL! I know! I was so tempted to take a look! :0)
